What is a Plantrician and a Whole Food Plant Based (WFPB)-Lifestyle?
Distinguishing himself as a plantrician, Dr. Queler is empowered with the knowledge of the benefits of WFPB nutrition. WFPB nutrition is a diet that maximizes the intake of whole plant foods and minimizes the intake of processed and animal derived foods. The daily diet is organized around food as grown: vegetables, fruits, whole grains, tubers, beans, peas, chickpeas, split peas, lentils, mushrooms, herbs, spices and in small amounts of seeds and nuts. The regular consumption of industrial: sugars, animal products, refined grains and oils is avoided.
What is Lifestyle Medicine?
Evan Queler, MD is one of the first medical professionals to globally be board certified in Lifestyle Medicine. Lifestyle Medicine, defined by the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, is the use of evidence-based lifestyle therapeutic approaches, such as a predominantly whole food, plant-based diet, regular physical activity, adequate sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances, and other non-drug modalities, to prevent, treat, and, oftentimes, reverse the lifestyle-related, chronic disease, that is all too prevalent.
Given the current healthcare crisis and unsustainable impact of the human race on planet Earth, Dr. Queler feels ‘it is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society’ and environment. For it would be irresponsible to not realize ‘health is not everything, but without it, everything is nothing.’ Subsequently, he feels it is his mandate to practice stewardship, of not only his body, but also from the world we borrow from younger generations. Obtaining optimal health will not only dramatically affect one’s life, but also the lives of those we love and the world.
Subsequently, Dr. Queler aspires to empower patients, families and the community at large, to use evidence-based lifestyle therapeutic approaches in order to simultaneously address our individual and collective: health, humanitarian and environmental impact.
